Dr. Richie Karaburun

Clinical Associate Professor at the Tisch Center of Hospitality at NYU SPS

Dr. Recep “Richie” Karaburun has more than two decades of global leadership experience in the travel and hospitality sectors. He is now a clinical associate professor of hospitality and tourism at New York University’s Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality, as well as the director of the NYU SPS Tisch Center Hospitality Innovation Hub Incubator, where he supports student entrepreneurs. He holds a DBA in Marketing from Pace University, an MBA from Chapman University, and a BBA from Uludag University, and is the author of The Power of Perseverance and co-author of The Nation and Place Branding. A recognized expert in strategic growth, innovation, and business development, Dr. Karaburun has spoken on topics including sales leadership, travel technology, and hospitality innovation. Since joining NYU in 2013, he has earned multiple honors for teaching excellence, including the NYU Distinguished Teaching Award in 2025, one of the university’s highest faculty distinctions.
