Lauren Jackson is a deputy editorial director at The New York Times and the host of Believing, a weekly newsletter about how people find meaning in their lives—religious, spiritual, or secular—which she created in 2025. She has won multiple awards for Believing from the Religion News Association. Previously at the Times, she was a writer and editor for The Morning newsletter, an editor for The Daily podcast, and has published photography from six countries. Before The Times, Jackson worked at CNN, the United Nations, and the International Rescue Committee. She was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and a Jefferson Scholar at the University of Virginia. She is on the board of the American Association of Rhodes Scholars. She is also the editor of The American Oxonian, a journal of arts and politics at Oxford University.
